‘Total Recall’ Theatrical Trailer

Everything you thought you know might not be what it seems. That’s both true in the world of Total Recall and regarding your previous thoughts on the movie. Sony just released a brand new trailer for the Len Wiseman directed August 3 remake starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel and it’s filled with so many epic looking action scenes, set pieces and special effects, it might actually get you pumped up for the film. The story is almost beat for beat the same as Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 original (which in turn was based on a Phillip K. Dick short story) but Wiseman’s budget definitely makes this, at least look like, a remake that’ll be worth seeing.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

'The Avengers', Now Third Highest Grossing Film of All Time

We may be nearing the halfway point of the summer movie season already, but Marvel’s The Avengers is still looming over the 2012 “blockbusters” that have come and gone like the slightly older yet much more successful brother of the bunch.  We’ve seen moderate box office successes from films like Men in Black 3, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Madagascar 3, but nothing has come close to the behemoth box office giant that was Marvel’s mother of all superhero movies.

The film shattered the opening weekend record with over $200 million in three days, and now Disney has announced that The Avengers is expected to cross the $600 million domestic mark today, making it only the third film in history to reach that number.  Hit the jump for more, including a rundown of what the all-time box office chart looks like now.

Alex Cross Poster + Full Trailer

Audiences are used to seeing Tyler Perry dressed up like an old woman, but this fall they'll be seeing a completely different side of the actor in Alex Cross, an adaptation of a character from James Patterson's detective novels. The film borrows its title from one of the books, but it's almost entirely an original story. The first poster has arrived with Fox (no muscles exposed) looming over Cross and his city. I hate the tagline, but the poster isn't bad.

Liam Neeson Ponders Snapping Necks in the French 'Taken 2' Poster

The teaser trailer for the action thriller sequel Taken 2 certainly got some people excited. Now a poster from France has Neeson standing, gun in hand, and likely pondering about the best way to kill his enemies in pursuit of him and his family. It's always best to ponder these things in low light and in front of large numbers as well. It's nothing spectacular, but fans already know what they want and expect from a sequel like this, so there's not much selling to do. Look!

‘The Prototype’ Teaser: ‘Act of Valor’ Company Does Sci-Fi

The Bandito Brothers surprised a lot of people with Act of Valor earlier this year, a small-budget feature starring active-duty members of the military which provided a fresh perspective on a tired genre. They've got a few other projects in the works, but none of them sound as promising as their newest endeavor.

Deadline points us to a new teaser for The Prototype, written and directed by Andrew Will and starring "Justified" and Captain America actor Neal McDonough. With a budget of under $40 million and thematic similarities to Neill Blomkamp's fantastic District 9, you don't want to miss this sci-fi action. Here's the teaser used to sell The Prototype from the Bandito Brothers via Deadline:

International 'Taken 2' trailer Hits... Hard

The time has come to see retired CIA operative Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) in action as an international trailer for the flick has just surfaced. While there's a half-ass attempt to replicate the thrill of the cell phone scene from the first film between Neeson and his daughter (Maggie Grace), the trailer still packs a lot of punch, and should be a great treat for fans this fall with plenty of gunfire and snapped necks.

‘Jurassic Park IV’ to Be Written by ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Screenwriters

Deadline reports Rise of the Planet of the Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have been hired to write the sequel with Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy both producing.

As of now there are no plot details, but this is the most solid news we've gotten on the potential sequel, and we still don't know if it will act as a franchise reboot to open up for more sequels. This writing duo successfully pulled of a Planet of the Apes sequel, so I'd say they're probably are the best people for the job.

First Teaser Trailer for Pixar's 'Monsters University'

It's here, it's here! Disney has just revealed the first teaser trailer for Pixar's Monsters University online for our viewing and entertainment. As a reminder, this is just the very first teaser, meant to play in front of Brave this weekend, and it only gives us an intro to the college world of Monsters U. and a reminder that it's coming up next year. Both Billy Crystal and John Goodman are back to voice a younger Mike and Sulley, along with Steve Buscemi as Randall and plenty others. This is just a fun teaser giving us a taste of the Animal House/Revenge of the Nerds shenanigans we're going to get with this. Enjoy!

'Dark Knight Rises' Awesome Fanmade Trilogy Poster

Here is one of the coolest pieces of fan art I have seen in support of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. This poster art takes all three films and mashes them together into one poster, and I love it.

Madagascar rules the box office

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted held on to the No. 1 spot again, with $35.5 million for the animated sequel’s second weekend in domestic theatres.

Studio estimates Sunday put Ridley Scott’s sci-fi adventure Prometheus at No. 2 again with $20.2 million.

Madagascar 3 and Prometheus held off two under-achieving newcomers. The star-studded musical Rock of Ages, whose cast includes Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin, flopped at No. 3 with $15.1 million.

Watch: Disney's Charming New Father's Day Spot for Pixar's 'Brave'

Disney has released a Father's Day spot for Pixar's Brave, and it really is wonderful. The film itself is a heartfelt story about a Scottish family, and the relationship between a rebellious daughter and her royal mother and father. This spot highlights some of the more intimate, character moments between Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) and her father, King Fergus (voiced by Billy Connolly). It's a perfect short spot with just the right amount of charm to brighten your day. Check it out below and enjoy!

Milla Jovovich Kicks Ass in New Trailer for 'Resident Evil: Retribution'

"Everything I've ever done is being used against me." Though the franchise seems to have run its course by now, fans just can't get enough of Milla Jovovich kicking ass and attempting to take down the Umbrella Corporation. Along with her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson, Jovovich continues the fight in the new full trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment in the video game based franchise. No matter how ridiculous the action, there's no denying that Jovovich is a bad-ass, something clear since her days in The Fifth Element. This looks like the biggest Resident Evil yet, and it might be the last. Watch!

Behind-the-Scenes Images from PROMETHEUS

Whatever you thought of the actual film itself, it’s an impressive feat that people are still talking about Prometheus with such intensity and passion nearly a week after its release. In this instant-gratification age, most films are released on a Friday and become “old news” by Monday. Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi at least gave us something to talk about, and now it appears we have even more to discuss as a newly-released behind-the-scenes image gives us a look at an alien that didn’t actually appear in the film. This confirms that there were deleted portions of the film’s opening sequence that included said extra-terrestrial.

Hit the jump to take a look at the image, as well as a few looks at the make-up process behind creating some of these creatures. Obviously, spoilers for Prometheus follow.

Spectacular Fan Posters for 'The Dark Knight Rises'

In the past few weeks, no film has received more posters than The Dark Knight Rises. The recent marketing blitz began with the disappointing “final” U.S. poster, the general consensus being that the one-sheet appeared amateurish at best. Perhaps to counteract the negative buzz, Warner Bros. followed that poster with six character posters, four epic banners and one secret Catwoman poster unveiled by a QR code on the ill-received “final” poster.

Even Christopher Nolan and an imprisoned Joker got their own poster, and I would love to have each and every one of them on my wall. Meanwhile, the rest of the internet has been busy making their own posters, and some of them are good enough to be found in your local movie theaters, and at the very least, look better than that explosive orange poster.

Will Venom Be Back?

Venom fanboys have had to carry around the disappointment of seeing their favorite character shoved into the awful Spider-Man 3.  However, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach have never given up the ghost of the slobbering Spidey foe.  As recently as this past March, some news surfaced that Chronicle director Josh Trank was in talks to helm a new movie featuring the villain/anti-hero.  However, how do you have Venom without Spider-Man and how do you have a Venom movie if the character isn’t in The Amazing Spider-Man?

Hit the jump for how Venom might fit into the new comic-book world The Amazing Spider-Man is spinning.

Mozambique now has digital 3D cinema

Citizens of Maputo were given something to cheer about as the first 3D cinema in the country opened its door  (yesterday for the VIP and press)  and today doors are open to general public.
Unfortunately I wasn’t invited... Funny hun? The only movie blog in the country wasn’t invited to the first 3d experience ever in this country... Which means I don’t know shit of what went down yesterday. I guess that’s what you get for being a rogue blogger that no one knows…
