Star Trek Into Darkness is the sequel to the J.J. Abrams-directed reboot of Gene Roddenberry's original science fiction series. The screenplay this time was co-written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof. Most of the crew is back, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin & John Cho. Paramount is bringing Into Darkness to theaters May 17th.

Behind-the-Scenes Images from PROMETHEUS

Whatever you thought of the actual film itself, it’s an impressive feat that people are still talking about Prometheus with such intensity and passion nearly a week after its release. In this instant-gratification age, most films are released on a Friday and become “old news” by Monday. Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi at least gave us something to talk about, and now it appears we have even more to discuss as a newly-released behind-the-scenes image gives us a look at an alien that didn’t actually appear in the film. This confirms that there were deleted portions of the film’s opening sequence that included said extra-terrestrial.

'Cowboys & Aliens' Teaser with Jon Favreau Commentary

"I'm already doing a commentary track on a movie that I'm in the middle of the director's cut," laughed Jon Favreau. One of the most popular trailers of last week was easily Cowboys & Aliens, the badass new comic book movie starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, among others. MTV asked director Jon Favreau to record a commentary track for the trailer, talking about certain scenes and what it shows, what it doesn't show, and so much more to get you hyped up for this awesome action western next summer. Star Trek Sequel Already In the works

In advance of its May 8th release, Paramount has already preemptively greenlit a sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and has confirmed that screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be back. Joining those two, however, will be Damon Lindelof, a Paramount producer and writer for "Lost" who helped get this Star Trek reboot off the ground with J.J. Abrams to begin with. No decision has been made on whether Abrams will return to direct the sequel. Although we can expect to hear a lot more about this in May, soon after it hits theaters. It looks like Abrams has indeed already successfully rebooted this franchise!
