Lee Unkrich talks Toy Story 4

Aside from the brief blip of Toy Story 2 in 1999, it seemed that Pixar was a company averse to creating sequels; now, though, they’re positively swamped by them. Toy Story 3. Cars 2. A second installment of Monsters Inc. And now, while Toy Story 3 had been commonly regarded as the end of that franchise, director Lee Unkrich is reopening the door. “We know that people love the characters, love Woody and Buzz, and would hate to say good-bye to them completely,” Unkrich told MSN. “I don’t know that there would ever be a ‘[Toy Story] 4.’ We don’t have any plans for one — but we are trying to find ways to keep the characters alive. We have announced we’re going to do a short film in front of Cars 2 that uses the Toy Story characters. We’re going to keep them alive; they’re not going away forever.”

What I’m saying is… maybe they should?

"Toy Story 3" set to smash Pixar opening record

"Toy Story 3" could give the summer box office a second big booster shot in as many weeks if industry expectations become marketplace reality.

Disney's 3D threequel should earn as much as $100 million during its first weekend, a record for a Pixar-produced movie. "The Incredibles" holds the title of the best Pixar opener, debuting with $70.5 million in May 2004 en route to a $261.4 million total in North America.

Pixar guys working on Toy Story 3 Video Game

"Movie-based games seem like they're destined to fail," says Jason Katz, story supervisor for Pixar's latest animated film, "Toy Story 3." "It's like putting a giraffe in human clothes."
But Pixar's collaboration with Avalanche Software on the "Toy Story 3" video game, released this week by Disney Interactive, demonstrates a fresh approach to the typically dreadful movie tie-in. Like most offerings in the genre, the game includes an interactive retelling of the film's plot. But Avalanche has also taken Buzz, Woody and the rest of the cast and put them in an open-world playground, called the Toy Box, that feels even truer to the spirit of the franchise.

The Men in Black are Back

For those of you who’ve been MIA, MIB 3 is happening - now. As reported by MTV’s Splash Page, Sony already filmed a teaser which features Will Smith in his super sleek Agent J suit attempting to reassure the public that making a third Men in Black is a good idea. Unfortunately, the teaser is no longer viewable via YouTube, so you’ll have to settle for Smith’s message in text.

Transporter 3

JoBlo debuted the US version of the Transporter 3 poster and it's that same kind of image that you'll be very familiar with - Jason Statham jumping through the air with his two guns drawn. This looks so familiar because it was the same design used on the posters for the first and second Transporter movies, as we've added below as well. In very short time, the buzz for Transporter 3 has blasted through the roof. I'm guessing it'll have a solid opening weekend, which is a testament to the badass nature of Jason Statham. Anyway - check out the poster in all of its glory below.

Transporter 3 Poster

For reference, we've thrown this poster up next to the posters for the first and second Transporter movies. It's great to always see them continue designs and not skimp with something weak for the finale.

Transporter 3 is directed by French filmmaker Olivier Megaton, of Exit, The Red Siren, and Angie previously, with a script penned by both Robert Mark Kamen and Luc Besson, the same two who also wrote the first and second Transporter. Lionsgate will be releasing Transporter 3 on November 26th later this year. How about this for an end to a trilogy?

Salva talks Jeepers Creepers 3

Salva talks Jeepers Creepers 3

"Jeepers Creepers" helmer Victor Salva tells Fangoria a little about the the film's second sequel and states that it may still get a theatrical release.

The film, tentatively titled 'Jeepers Creeper 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us', "includes a prologue in the Old West and might bring back several characters from the first two films 20 years later. The script and story will be big on scares and give us plenty more of the traditional Creeper creepiness, with a few more bits thrown in about what it might be and where it came from", says the filmmaker.

MGM had "suggested that we go direct to video with the third in the trilogy, but we hope that the exciting entity that the new MGM is becoming realizes that both 'Jeepers Creepers' films set [then-] records for their Labor Day weekend box-office openings, before each went on to make over $100 million apiece on DVD," he tells Fangoria. "I believe a theatrical release is critical to this kind of success on video. I don’t think you can have one without the other, and it would be a shame not to be able to see what I have planned for 'Jeepers 3' up on the big screen."

Indeed.
