The 35th Toronto International Film Festival has announced a total of 50 Gala/Special Presentation films as part of the lineup at this year's festival, which runs September 9th to 19th in Toronto, Canada. I'll be gearing up for another massive month long festival tour soon and it looks like Toronto will be an awesome stop. You can check out a full list of Toronto films below.

'Titanic II' Trailer Hits; Yep, It's a Real Movie
Posted by
Kaetus
The idea of a sequel to James Cameron's Titanic has been a Hollywood punchline for years; the epitome of zero creativity, sequelitis and cash-in motivations. Sadly, a studio did actually make a Titanic II. It's no longer a joke. Titanic II is very much so a real movie and it has a real trailer (unlike the dozens of fake, fan-made trailers that have emerged over the years).
Michael Bay and Paramount Reunite for Untitled Alien Movie
Posted by
Kaetus
Michael Bay is reuniting with his Transformers studio, Paramount Pictures, for yet another movie about aliens. Heat Vision reports that the Bay and the studio are putting together an untitled alien movie that’s being described as a cross between Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity. While it’s difficult to discern any plot details from that, the description hints heavily at a handheld POV narrative device. Bay is producing along with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Bay’s former Transformers PA Barry Glickert developed the story and will direct.
Joseph Kosinski Pitching Oblivion To Studios This Week
Posted by
Kaetus
Kosinski has been developing the idea for the last five years, which he had initially hoped to make his directorial debut with the story before Tron came along. He had conceived the idea as a “very spare science fiction film with a small cast but big ideas and big landscapes” that could be made on a medium budget.

Great Footage of Transformers 3 Total Destruction
Posted by
Kaetus
You may have heard this already, but part of Michael Bay’s Transformers 3 — notably one of the big final action set pieces — will take place in the heart of downtown Chicago. And while we don’t know, nor would we be interested in sharing, the details of the plot that lead the film to the Windy City, we do think it sounds like fun to see an epic war between alien robots and humanity break out in the same neighborhood where Christopher Nolan staged Gotham’s finest moments.

Kaetus
Warner Bros has decided to debut most of all the awesome footage from Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch that showed at Comic-Con online via Apple today and it is badass. If those sexy character posters were any indication, this is a must watch trailer that you will all (hopefully) love.I loved the footage and I cannot wait to see more from this because it looks so damn unique. Sucker Punch stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn and Oscar Isaac. I think I'll let this awesome trailer just speak for itself, so fire it up below and enjoy!
Rihanna Boards Battleship
Posted by
Kaetus
For better or worse, a fair share of chart topping singers have turned to Hollywood to broaden their horizons by adding "actress" to their resume. Madonna, Cher, Alica Keys and Mariah Carey are just a few singers who have dabbled in the film industry, and now Variety reports that Rihanna will join the ranks as she'll make her feature film debut in Peter Perg's adaptation of the board game Battleship. There weren't any specifics mentioned regarding her character, but she'll join Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch in a story taking place across the seas, the skies and over land in a battle for planetary survival against a superior alien force.

Inception Stays on Top beating Salt
Posted by
Kaetus
Inception continued to dominate the box office in its second weekend, earning an estimated $43.5 million from its 3,792 locations. That is a loss of only 31% over last weekend; an amazing hold attributable to the great word of mouth and repeat business Inception is inspiring. Angelina Jolie’s spy-thriller Salt placed second with an estimated $36.5 million, making this, arguably, the first week of the summer when two adult-skewing features have led the domestic box office.
Star Trek 2 Delayed

Excited for a J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek 2 to start up soon? Hold your intergalactic horses, says Zachary Quinto. “I know there are sort of erroneous reports that we’re going back in January — not true, as far as I know,” he told MTV News at Comic-Con. Also, is J.J. so totally going to throw Trek over to direct Wicked, or am I reading too much into this apropos-of-nothing

It looks like Scarlett Johansson will assume the role previously earmarked for Angelina Jolie in the 3D sci-fi flick Gravity. NY Daily News [via Bleeding Cool] reports that Johannson has “verbally agreed” to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in the film. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men), Gravity follows “a woman as she attempts to make her way back to earth after a satellite crash sets off a chain reaction of further crashes.”

Bruce Willis Talks UNBREAKABLE 2 and DIE HARD 5
Posted by
Kaetus
Bruce Willis is a busy man at this year’s Comic-Con. In addition to stopping by The Expendables panel, he also talked to MTV about his upcoming projects, namely Die Hard 5 and the long-awaited sequel to M. Night Shyamalan’s last good movie, Unbreakable. The Unbreakable front, sadly, is bleak. Willis is eager to continue the story of David Dunn, the Philadelphia security guard who discovers his body is, well, unbreakable, but Shyamalan is a different story. According to Willis, “We’d have to hip-check Night [Shyamalan] into doing it.”
Check out a clip of the Die Hard comments after the jump.

Full-Length Tron Legacy Trailer!

Tron Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, Garrett Hedlund and Bruce Boxleitner and will be hitting theaters in glorious, native 3D this December. Easily my most anticipated movie for the rest of 2010, hands down. Do yourself a favor, drop everything, and watch this trailer now, because you will be totally blown away. Watch this below
Awesome Full Trailer for Ryan Reynolds' Buried!
Posted by
Kaetus
Because the entire movie takes place inside of the coffin, Lionsgate had to be very creative with this trailer, because they don't want to show too much of it since there's only so much that's in the movie anyway. That said, I think this is a perfect trailer to tease audiences and provide a sense of the intensity of Buried, which I can say will probably end up as one of my favorite movies of the year. Definitely watch this trailer, it's worth it!
Brad Pitt Cast in World War Z Movie

Kaetus
Both Bleeding Cool and MTV heard straight from World War Z author Max Brooks tonight that not only is the big screen version of the bestselling zombie book World War Z finally moving forward, set to hit theaters in summer 2012, but that Brad Pitt is officially signed on to star. You may remember that Pitt's production company Plan B was the one that picked up the rights and has been developing this, with Quantum of Solace's Marc Forster still attached to direct (presumably after he finishes Disconnect).

First Image of Brad Pitt on the Set of MONEYBALL

There was a point when it looked like Moneyball — the adaptation of the Michael Lewis baseball book led by Brad Pitt — might not make it. Thus, let us celebrate this physical evidence that Bennett Miller (Capote) is helming the Los Angeles shoot as we speak. Though there is not yet photographic proof, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stephen Bishop, Kathryn Morris, and Chris Pratt also star in the film. Just Jared (via SlashFilm) snapped a few photos of Gordon-Levitt riding his bike around the street during a shoot for the film in New York's Upper West Side.

Another Fantastic Tron Legacy Banner Featuring Olivia Wilde
Posted by
Kaetus
Although we just featured the sixth billboard a few days ago in Disney's series of banners for Tron Legacy, the seventh one has made its way online already as well. Our friends at impawards debuted yet another new banner/billboard for the new Tron, this time featuring the extremely beautiful Olivia Wilde as Quorra, a "fearless warrior" who joins with Sam Flynn in the Tron world. Her disc-throwing pose looks awfully similar to the one of Garrett Hedlund. Either way, this still looks awesome and I thought it was worth featuring even though we've seen a lot of imagery from Tron recently, but it all still kicks ass!

Off to the side, we can see (from left to right), Thor’s adopted brother and nemesis Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Queen of Asgard and Thor’s step-mother Frigga (Rene Russo), and Thor’s allies Hogun the Grim (Tadanobu Asano) and Fandral the Dashing (Josh Dallas).

Inception Dream Coming True
Posted by
Kaetus
The buzz on Christopher Nolan’s Inception continues. Now, however, the topic has shifted from “how awesome will it be?” To “what does it all mean?” Today at least one question can be resolved: “How much money will it make?” In its opening weekend, Inception earned an estimated $60.4 million from its 3,792 locations. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, meanwhile, continued to struggle; earning $17.3 million for a five day total south of $25 million.

Sixth Awesome New Billboard for Tron Legacy Arrives Online!

It looks like Tron Legacy will probably end up being the highlight of Comic-Con 2010 with all the sweet stuff they're planning as part of "ComiTRON.
New 'Thor' Image God Talk

Not to be outdone by Warner Bros. and their new DC Comics based Green Lantern franchise, Marvel has a new photo from Thor floating around out in the ether. It was first picked up by a reader on Superherohype. The image shows Anthony Hopkins as Odin imparting godly wisdom to Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Or maybe he’s about to kick him in the nuts. It’s kind of hard to tell.
The Social Network First Trailer

Sony Pictures has premiered the full theatrical trailer (via Yahoo) for David Fincher's The Social Network, the Facebook movie starring Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. I know this is going to get a lot of flack, but I think this looks Oscar caliber, but I expected nothing less from David Fincher. I really loved this entire trailer, the music choice, the story and its progression, the atmosphere, its message, it's such a beautiful way of teasing a movie. I have a good feeling The Social Network is going to be a highlight of 2010, this really does look incredible. Watch below!

Other (Less Shitty) Green Lantern images
Posted by
Kaetus
Before, I saw scans of other images from Entertainment Weekly's Green Lantern article, I wanted to draw your attention that detail from the cover, which reveals GL's costume. GL's ugly, awful costume. The suit itself is a nightmare - many have already said that the striated musculature makes Lantern look like a gamma-irradiated Slim Goodbody. But what's up with this mask, which appears to be applied to Ryan Reynold's face as grease paint? Is this just a shitty PhotoShop job for the cover of the magazine or is Hal Jordan going to have his ring magic up a grease paint kit for him?

We pretty much expected this, but now it's official: Ahead of their big panels at Comic Con next week, Hero Complex reports that both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will go 3D. Both films will be converting to 3D, even though director Joe Johnston tested shooting Captain America with a 3D rig (he called it a "nightmare" that restricted him too much). In addition to the 3D announcement, HC also revealed a brand new image from Thor featuring Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Chris Hemsworth as Thor (complete with the first shot of his trusty hammer) and Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki.

Tron Legacy Team Join Forces with Toy Story 3 Team
Posted by
Kaetus
Entertainment Weekly published a great article today about how the Tron Legacy filmmakers sought out the help of some of Pixar's best and brightest for advice on improving the film after they showed them an early cut in March. Then, they actually hired Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt and director Brad Bird to write some of the new pages for the reshoots. The screening took place in March, they also showed it to other filmmakers in LA, and then they went in for planned reshoots in June. An absolutely brilliant idea and I think this is going to only help make it a more polished movie all around.
