We pretty much expected this, but now it's official: Ahead of their big panels at Comic Con next week, Hero Complex reports that both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will go 3D. Both films will be converting to 3D, even though director Joe Johnston tested shooting Captain America with a 3D rig (he called it a "nightmare" that restricted him too much). In addition to the 3D announcement, HC also revealed a brand new image from Thor featuring Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Chris Hemsworth as Thor (complete with the first shot of his trusty hammer) and Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki.

As for the image itself ... well, this could go either way, right? Are people going to make cracks about the golden eye-patch wearing Hopkins? Probably. But check out the slimy-looking Loki off to the right. It's only one image, and he's off in the background (sort of), but you can immediately tell that Hiddleston is going to make a great villain -- he just has "that look"; the kind where you want to punch him even though you haven't seen him utter a word. Yeah, that look.
