Just when you thought we were all done talking about Watchmen...
Seriously, though, is it just me or is Warner Bros. a little too poster happy when it comes to Watchmen? Last week the final poster for the film was revealed, and then came one last poster ... and then yesterday came yet another final IMAX poster. Holy Christmas Warners, relax with the posters! We get it. No more. And by now you're probably tired of the images, the TV spots, the trailers, the comparisons to the graphic novel and the blatant, over-the-top fanboy-ish hysteria from just about everyone in movie blog world. I don't blame you one bit -- after all, too much hype may be good for box office, but it's also bound to cause some backlash.
So instead of shoving new marketing materials down your hard drive, here's a pretty funny spoof of the current Watchmen trailer, featuring a separate audio track and ... well, I don't want to spoil it. Enjoy.
MTV has debuted the new poster for Watchmen's IMAX release on March 6th. Directed by Zack Snyder, the Warner Bros. Pictures graphic novel adaptation stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the 10th WatchmenVideo Journal online in QuickTime format at Apple.com!
Opening March 6th in conventional theaters and IMAX, the Zack Snyder-directed adaptation stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson.Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the Watchmen?
We've seen a few photos from the set, but Empire has snagged the first official images from Michael Mann's Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in what has to be one of the most anticipated on-screen match-ups of 2009. In the flick, which is based on the book by Bryan Burrough, Bale will portray FBI agent Melvin Purvis, who, under the guidance of J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup), waged a full-on war against the country's most notorious (and successful) criminals -- namely John Dillinger (Depp), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum) and Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham). It's a pretty wild true story, and one Mann and his cast should have a ball with. Check out an image of Bale after the jump, and the full images in this month's issue of Empire Magazine.
Public Enemies is being directed by Michael Mann of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice. The film is currently slated for release from Universal Pictures sometime in 2009.
Billy Crudup has been set to play FBI director J. Edgar Hoover in Public Enemies, the Michael Mann-directed crime drama for Universal that stars Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, reports Variety.
Mann has also set Stephen Lang to play Winstead, the leader of the Texas Rangers who joins the manhunt for John Dillinger and his gang. Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard also star.

TheBadandUgly.com has your first look at Matt Damon on the set of the new untitled Paul Greengrass "Green Zone" thriller. In the film, inspired by Rajiv Chandrasekaran's nonfiction book "Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone," Damon plays an officer who teams with a senior CIA officer to search for evidence of weapons of mass destruction. A "Green Zone" is a walled and fortified area where U.S. troops stay during the Iraq occupation. There, critics say, flawed decisions are made because leaders are separated from the realities of life in war-torn Iraq.
