New Tron Legacy Photos Hit

Five images from TRON: Legacy have arrived online.  Only the Jeff Bridges one is new, and the other four images are known from the March trailer.  But the official release of these images is yet another sign that Disney is ratcheting up the film’s profile in advance of the big splash it’s hoping to make at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.  How big of a splash?  They’re calling Thursday, July 22nd “ComiTRON“.  Hit the jump to check out the images.

A press release informed that “The panel for the film will be taking place at 11:15am in Hall H.  On the panel will be filmmakers and talent from the film, including director Joe Kosinski, producers Sean Bailey and Steven Lisberger as wells as cast members Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner. The panel discussion, to be moderated by Patton Oswalt, is set to include exclusive glimpses of the film, as well as a Q & A involving all panel participants, along with special surprise guests.”

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and is pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years.

Tron Legacy is directed by first-time filmmaker Joseph Kosinski. The screenplay was co-written by Adam Horowitz ("Lost"), Richard Jefferies (Blood Tide, Living Hell), Edward Kitsis ("Lost"), and the director of the original movie, Steven Lisberger. This first got the greenlight last year because this early teaser played well at Comic-Con. Disney is bringing Tron Legacy to theaters in 3D starting on December 17th, 2010.
