Badass Photo of Jason Momoa as Conan

Holy crap! Each new photo we see of Jason Momoa starring in the Marcus Nispel directed Conan movie looks more epic than the last! The first one was pretty tame, a second one got crazier, and now we've got this mega-epic power-photo. It comes from Uruloki (via SlashFilm) and is about as heavily Photoshopped as every page of Cosmo, but damn if it doesn't look cool. I'm wondering if the recent appearance of all these photos means that Lionsgate may be starting up their marketing for this and maybe we'll see a trailer (and a release date) soon. Either way, we'll let you know, but for now check this out below!

First Look: Conan

Jason Momoa as Conan the Barbarian
The first official photo of actor Jason Momoa ("Baywatch", "North Shore", "Stargate: Atlantis") as the legendary Conan the Barbarian in Marcus Nispel's Conan has been found on the site for Nu Boyana Film Studios (via ScreenRant). It's not much, it's actually even less than the Thor first look. It's pretty much just a shot of a buffed up Jason Momoa with some epicly long hair and that's about it; you can barely make out the stairs behind him, but I want to see more from this first! The good news is that it looks like this guy has almost as much muscle as Arnold did in his movie. So check it out then speak your mind!

Conan fast on Track

A new Conan movie is coming faster than we thought it might. With the popularity of the new online game and with all the buzz about a spinoff character prequel Thulsa Doom and the loosely related Red Sonja (I said loosely!) Lionsgate is eager to get the ball rolling on this.

Filmjunk Says:

we now have confirmation this week that Lionsgate are definitely fast-tracking the project. They’ve hired Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain to do a rewrite on the script, and are currently in search of a director.

Paradox Entertainment CEO Fredrik Malmberg had this to say: “We all want this movie to go into production as soon as possible. It’s a fast-tracked movie. Lionsgate felt the process was enhanced by having a second team come in and do a script.” He also said: “There’s no reason there couldn’t be a Conan movie every two years. He’s almost like Batman: He’s a dark hero. He’s a hard hero. He has to be badass, but we also have to like him.”

Who knows if this remake will be any good, but the excitement around it is ripe right now, and if they can make some announcements to keep people interested by the time this comes out it could be huge.

Cohen is Sherlock Holmes, Ferrell to Play Watson!

Columbia Pictures has set an untitled comedy that will star Sacha Baron Cohen as master detective Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Watson, his crime-solving partner, reports Variety.

Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) is writing the script, and Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will produce.

The comedy is inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes tales. Though the thrust is different, the Baron Cohen-Ferrell pairing is the second major studio project featuring the supersleuth, as Warner Bros. is prepping the Anthony Peckham-scripted drama Sherlock Holmes with director Guy Ritchie.

The Columbia project reteams Baron Cohen and Ferrell, who played rival racecar drivers in Columbia's 2006 hit comedy "Talladega Nights," which Apatow and Miller also produced.
