Superheroes fly to Canada?

The Cat’s out of the bag, so, er, I guess I’m allowed to hit with a shovel – “Mad Max” star Hugh Keays-Byrne will indeed play ‘The Martian Manhunter’ in a film that’s been on and off more times than Pammy and Tommy Lee – “Justice League” (only now the film’s been retitled “Justice League Mortal”).

Keays-Byrne’s involvement in the film was first mentioned in an article in The Sydney Morning Herald (and then later at Aint it Cool, who added the ‘Manhunter’ titbit), in which the paper stated that the production may be moving from Australia to Canada because some producers believe Justice League is not Australian enough to qualify for the tax scheme. This’ll hurt like a knee to the balls for locals - it means the crew’s that were hired to work on the film’s Sydney shoot will no longer be required, and some of the actors – many Australians have been cast, like Teresa Palmer and Megan Gale – may be recast with Canadian actors.

"One of the reasons for doing Justice League in this country is the opportunity to bring back all the people we lost on Happy Feet who went overseas," Miller said. "We spent four years developing this talent and the cream of them left because they didn't have another film to go on to ... The idea is to say come back, start off on Justice League then move onto Happy Feet 2."

Be interesting to see what happens…
