New Featurette for 'Sucker Punch'

A new featurette of the upcoming Zack Snyder action flick Sucker Punch has been released and it gives us a deeper look into the next installment of the Zack Snyder series – movies-with-mind-blowing-ass-kicking. It’s basically a collection of a bunch of previously released scenes but also compiles a few comments by the actors including Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, and Oscar Isaac.   The film also stars Scott Glenn.

Warner Bros has decided to debut most of all the awesome footage from Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch that showed at Comic-Con online via Apple today and it is badass. If those sexy character posters were any indication, this is a must watch trailer that you will all (hopefully) love.I loved the footage and I cannot wait to see more from this because it looks so damn unique. 'Watchmen' watching over Box Office

Warner Bros.' dark superhero pic "Watchmen" grossed an estimated $55.7 million from 3,611 theaters in its domestic B.O. debut, coming in lower than expected but still scoring the best opening of the year and one of the best showings ever for an R-rated film.

Studio had hoped for the pic to transform into a March tentpole and match, or best, the $70.9 million opening of Zack Snyder's previous film "300," which bowed on the same frame in 2007.

"Watchmen's" running time, however, was 2:40 before trailers. At that length, theaters couldn't play as much runs of the pic as they did "300," which ran under two hours.

"Watchmen," based on the iconic graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, played heavily to fans, i.e., males between the ages of 17-34. After that, "Watchmen" appeared to have some trouble broadening out. Pic was considered a hard R, because of its graphic violence and sex.

"Watchmen's" 124 Imax runs were sold out throughout the weekend. Imax runs accounted for $5.5 million; the circuit's best opening weekend number after "The Dark Knight" ($6.3 million).

"Watchmen" nabbed the third highest March opening, and the fifth highest opening ever for an R-rated film.

Snyder's Sucker Punch Cast Coming Together

300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder is putting together the all-female cast for his next project, Sucker Punch, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Amanda Seyfried in negotiations to topline the project, while Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone are in talks to star in the action fantasy.

Set in the 1950s, "Punch" follows a girl who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Snyder, who co-wrote the script with Steve Shibuya, has described the fantasy world as " 'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns," blending such elements as dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels.

Seyfried would play Babydoll, the institutionalized girl.

If deals are completed, the rest would play Seyfried's fellow inmates who also travel into the alternate reality. Hudgens would play a character named Blondie, Cornish would play Sweet Pea, Wood would play Rocket and Stone would play Amber.

'Watchmen' Video Outlines the Anti-Vigilante Keene Act

You've gotta know that even though we've got a ton of trailers and other funky tidbits, the Watchmen marketing push is far from over. Now, as we enter the last long month of waiting, we can see how these masked modern heroes came to be. How they were thrust into the shadows, removed from their crime-fighting ways until some retired, and others gained a fair bit of gut flub. Yes, Nite Owl, I'm looking at you.

Above you can check out a public service announcement that explains the Keene Act -- the McCarthy-esque plan to rid the world of masked superheroes. The rules are simple: no masks, no capes, no gadgets or experimental weapons, and no dangerous unlicensed vehicles. I wonder, does the same apply to masked sports mascots, magicians, and Van Damme's thighs? And really, that act is kind of silly. I mean, couldn't a hero just take off their spectacles to disguise themselves (a la Superman), take off the cape, use only mainstream weapons, and drive sports cars? No? I guess that's not flashy enough.

'Watchmen' Spoof Trailer

Just when you thought we were all done talking about Watchmen...

Seriously, though, is it just me or is Warner Bros. a little too poster happy when it comes to Watchmen? Last week the final poster for the film was revealed, and then came one last poster ... and then yesterday came yet another final IMAX poster. Holy Christmas Warners, relax with the posters! We get it. No more. And by now you're probably tired of the images, the TV spots, the trailers, the comparisons to the graphic novel and the blatant, over-the-top fanboy-ish hysteria from just about everyone in movie blog world. I don't blame you one bit -- after all, too much hype may be good for box office, but it's also bound to cause some backlash.

So instead of shoving new marketing materials down your hard drive, here's a pretty funny spoof of the current Watchmen trailer, featuring a separate audio track and ... well, I don't want to spoil it. Enjoy.

The Watchmen IMAX Poster

Snyder Wants to Make THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS

Talking to iFMagazine.com (via MTV's Splash Page), Snyder says, "That’s really my favorite comic book. However, the studio has this massive franchise and I don’t think they’ll let me make a BATMAN movie where he’s fifty years old and Ronald Reagan is president." I think Snyder just missed his window. After "Batman & Robin", I think Warner Bros. would have tried anything to get the franchise off the ground again. Then again, with "The Dark Knight" WB allowed Batman to be portrayed as a fascist and that fits right in with Miller's comic. Keep hope alive, Snyder!

New 4-Minute Watchmen Featurette

MySpace offers up an exclusive video with Director Zack Snyder geeking it out while explaining why Watchmen is such a different type of superhero film. When I watch something like this I completely forget that there is a legal battle going all. In the end all I want is to see this exactly as Zack Snyder imagined. Just as the graphic novel changed the comic book world forever, this movie might have as big of an impact on the cinematic world. Enjoy!

Watchmen Gets Shorter

SCI FI Wire talked to Zack and Deborah Snyder, the husband-and-wife directing/producing team of Watchmen, who said that the film's final length hasn't been approved yet, but that it is getting shorter:

"We're getting really close," producer Deborah Snyder said in a telephone interview on Nov. 18. "We're at two hours and 35 minutes."

Director Zack Snyder added: "The movie's pretty long ... compared to 300, which was an hour and 58 minutes. The director's cut [of Watchmen] is about three hours and 10 minutes long. It has even more than the theatrical version as far as the detail that gets even closer to the graphic novel."

They did reuse some of the same footage from the first trailer, but it doesn't really matter, because we still get a glorious look at what may be one of the greatest comic book movies of all-time - just as the graphic novel itself is one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. 6 Watchmen Amazing Posters

In anticipation of the new Watchmen trailer hitting theaters this Friday in front of Quantum of Solace, Warner Brothers has debuted six new stunning character teaser posters. There is one for every major character - The Comedian, Rorschach, Nite Owl, Dr. Manhattan, Silk Spectre, and Ozymandias. Whoever is doing the marketing for Watchmen deserves to be promoted - these are as gorgeous as every other poster we've seen so far. I don't think I need to say any more - just drop what you're doing and take a look!

I need one of the Comedian and Rorschach posters on my wall right away - they look absolutely fantastic!

Amazing New Watchmen Teaser Poster!

The official theatrical Watchmen teaser poster has premiered on Yahoo. The new poster shows the shot from the early few minutes of the movie (and the frames of the comic book itself) when The Comedian (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is thrown through the window. While he falls to his untimely death, the Happy-face pin with a smidgen of blood flies through the air behind him. It’s probably one of the coolest pieces of footage they have shown yet.

Eight Watchmen Posters from Comic-Con 08!

Zack Snyder to Direct Guardians

Zack Snyder (300, upcoming Watchmen) is set to direct Guardians of Ga'Hoole, an animated feature film based on the series of children's books by Kathryn Lasky.

Village Roadshow is making the film and Warner Bros. will distribute.

The film is set in the Forest of Tyto, where Barn Owls live in peace until their kingdom is threatened by an evil that could destroy their home.

The script was written by John Orloff (A Mighty Heart) and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World). The pic will be produced by Zareh Nalbandian, with Donald DeLine, Deborah Snyder and Lionel Wigram executive producing.

The intention is to execute in Sydney, Australia, through Animal Logic, which worked with Village Roadshow and WB on Happy Feet. The film is on a fast track and is likely to be ready by 2009 or 2010.
