Public Enemies is directed by Michael Mann, of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice previously. The screenplay is based on Bryan Burrough's book of the same name and was adapted by Ronan Bennett (A Further Gesture). Later, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman (Copycat, Primal Fear) wrote a revised screenplay before shooting. Universal is bringing Public Enemies to theaters everywhere on July 1st this summer.

Because people experience the game in pairs, playing two guys who go against the world, Scott and I agreed this format presented an opportunity to make a great buddy film,” Burns stated.
I’m not going to go into all the various reasons I have no faith in these movies yet again, but does this game even have a built in audience? Quite frankly I haven’t even heard of this game until today (keep in mind, while I do play games, I’m not the most up to date gamer by any stretch of the imagination).

Angelina Jolie is to play the lead role in an action thriller which 
The film will be a screen return for the star, who recently gave birth to twins, says Variety.
The script of espionage action flick Edwin A Salt will be reworked and the title changed, it adds.
Universal made Jolie's role in the film more high profile and focused its promotion on her, reports Variety.
Russian spy
Cruise had a long-standing connection to Edwin A Salt and several other male actors wanted to replace him before Jolie expressed an interest in the script.
The newspaper added that the screenplay would not require radical rewriting to fit Jolie.
She will play a CIA officer who is accused of being a Russian spy and goes on the run until she can prove her innocence.
The actress is close to a deal to secure the role, while another forthcoming film, Atlas Shrugged, is also being touted as a return vehicle for the actress.
Jolie, 33, gave birth to Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in France last month.
A sequel to the videogame is being produced for release in 2009, and will make its appearance before the film is finished shooting. The film is looking at a potential 2010 release date.
It was touch and go for a day or so, but according to estimates, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (Warner Bros.) has won the weekend, narrowly defeating the third installment of the "Mummy" franchise, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Universal) starring Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello.
I know what you’re all thinking: “Great. Finally, they’ll tell the rest of the story – they’ll get to the good stuff. Here comes the film they should’ve told first-time around – the one where the ex-cop defends the ex-crook” (After working as a prosecutor, cop Ritchie Roberts became a criminal defense attorney, and still works as one today. Ironically, the first person he defended was Frank Lucas, for the same crime for which he prosecuted him.).
Doubtful we’ll get any of that “good stuff” here, folkidorians. Word is, “AG 2” is likely a direct-to-DVD offering, and based on who CHUD says is starring in it - salsa singer Domingo Quiñones - it’s unlikely we’re going to be treated to a sequel featuring the same characters (sure-as-shit Crowe and Washington won’t be back for it) as the first film, but more so a film that shares similarities with Ridley Scott’s film, but for the most part is just thieving it’s name (Think “Carlito’s Way : Rise to Power” or “American Pie : The Naked Mile”). It’s all the rage, ya know?
Universal are currently working on a few direct-to-DVD sequels - “Without a Paddle 2″, a new “Beethoven” pic, etc - so wouldn’t surprise me at all if Blockbuster will be where this thing makes its debut.
According to CHUD’s scooper, the salsa singer will be playing an undercover Mexican cop in the film. The scenes in which he participates in will be shot in Puerto Rico in a few months.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hundreds of firefighters are battling a large blaze that broke out on Sunday on a back lot at Universal Studios, site of movie and television production, a spokesman for a neighboring fire department said.
Burbank firefighter David Ortiz said that about 200 firefighters and two helicopters had been deployed to assist the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
A spokesman for the L.A. County Fire Department was not immediately available, but Capt. Frank Reynoso told CNN that at least one explosion had been heard at the scene.
Universal Studios, operated by NBC Universal Inc, is a unit of General Electric Co.
Universal Studios Hollywood spans hundreds of acres and includes a theme park and a working movie and television back lot.
Although the specific log line for the film is being kept under wraps, the film will be a supernatural adventure with the Ouija board playing an integral part of the story.
