The Weinstein Co. has revealed the first poster for their upcoming sci-fi film, Apollo 18. The film will use the “found footage” angle made popular again recently by films such as Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity to tell the “real story” of Nasa’s 18th Apollo mission, where astronauts were shocked to discover extraterrestrial life. The film will be produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and will mark the English-language directorial debut of Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, who previously directed the Spanish film El Rey De La Montana (King of the Hill).You can hit the jump to check out the poster.
9 is a computer animated film produced by Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch), directed by former WETA Digital artist Shane Acker, and featuring the music of Danny Elfman. Based on Acker’s Academy Award-nominated 2005 film festival short (watch it on YouTube), 9 is a post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened. The official plot synopsis follows:
“When 9 (Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.”
The group includes 1 (Christopher Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Martin Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (John C. Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Crispin Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Jennifer Connelly), a brave warrior. I like Acker’s unique art style which could be described as a darker/post apocalyptic version of what Tim Burton use to do, with a touch of LittleBigPlanet. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Mark Millar talked to Newsarama about Universal Pictures making a Wanted 2 and possibly Wanted 3.
The first film, based on Millar's graphic novel, was directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann, Common and Angelina Jolie. It has earned $258.3 million worldwide.
Millar says he was approached right after the premiere by producer Mark Platt about his thoughts on continuing the story:
"What I will be doing is providing them with a very small amount of stuff for a story, and that will be used as a basic story that they can build from. It will be a small outline that can possibly be picked apart and not used – but it will be something exclusively for the second film, and no one will ever really see it."
Given that the film version of the story differs from the comic book version in a number of ways (some quite substantial) Millar's outline will be set in the film's continuity, but will reach back to the comics. "It will be some of the stuff that we didn't utilize from the first book for the movie – like chapters three and four – there will be some stuff from that, so in the loosest sense it will be based on the book, but only very little," Millar said.
Universal Pictures has brought online a new Red Band trailer for Wanted, directed by Timur Bekmambetov and coming to theaters on June 27th. The fantasy-thriller, based on Mark Millar's graphic novel, stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann, Common and Angelina Jolie.
