Quentin Tarantino Unveils His Top 20 of 2010

Though we're now a few days into 2011, that doesn't mean we can't continue to looking back at 2010. That includes featuring more Best of lists, like this one - filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's Favorite Movies of 2010. He starts naming 11... then continues on to feature 20 total, so that's what I've posted below, courtesy of the The Tarantino Archives. It's a good, fun list that will definitely spark some debate, especially because Toy Story 3 is #1 and that's followed by odd choices like Tangled (which I also loved), Cyrus, Knight & Day (what the heck?!?), Get Him To The Greek, Robin Hood and many more. Inglourious Basterds Set Photos

First Look at Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds

The first image of Brad Pitt from Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds has just arrived online In the film, Pitt plays Lt. Aldo Raine, who leads a group of Jewish-American soldiers during WWII called 'The Basterds'. For these men, their job is to track down and viciously murder Nazis in an attempt to provoke fear in the Third Reich. Basterds is currently in production in Germany, and stars Diane Kruger, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Brühl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sönke Möhring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet and Cloris Leachman.

Obviously they're wasting no time spreading hype for this flick (but will Tarantino have it done in time for Cannes, like he previously said?). What do you think of Pitt? Doesn't he look dashing ...

And here's the synopsis: Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own...

Kruger up to a revenge

Diane Kruger has been cast as Bridget Von Hammersmark, the role that had been pegged for Nastassja Kinski, in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards." German star Til Schweiger also has nabbed a role in the World War II movie.

"Bastards" revolves around a French girl's revenge on the Nazis and also follows a band of American Nazi killers. Both story lines eventually converge.

Pitt and DiCaprio for Inglorious Bastards

Tarantino has been shopping around for someone to pay for his Inglorious Bastards, and now that he has had some promising sit downs with one potential star and plans on another bigger star, the guys with the cash are lining up.

The director met with Brad Pitt in France on Tuesday to talk about the possibility of Pitt playing the key role of Aldo Raine. Tarantino also plans to meet with Leonardo DiCaprio for another lead role, that of Hans Landa, on Thursday.

Now I really like Brad Pitt, so I am game for just about anything he is in. But that statement goes DOUBLY strong when DiCaprio is involved.

This gets me interested in this film, and I am already tired of Tarantino, and I have no idea what this movie is about having never been exposed to the material. So getting these guys involved might have the same effect on others who don’t list Tarantino as their cup of tea.

'Kill Bill,' Anime, and the Whole Bloody Affair

The only thing more annoying than double-dipping DVDs is refraining from buying the first release of a film you really love, and then waiting, waiting, waiting, and more waiting for a better version to come out. Of course, as soon as you finally cave in, eager to see the film again, that's when it will happen. I'm beginning to think that I should just go out and buy the old Kill Bill releases, just to get this whole production up and running.

Last June, it seemed like we were finally getting the Whole Bloody Affair, but November came and went without that super-tasty disc release. Almost a year later, we're getting teased again. In a talk with MTV, Uma Thurman says that Quentin Tarantino's animated stuff is really on the way, and she teased that the long-awaited and desired big DVD release could actually arrive soon.

One anime companion film has been made, and Thurman says: "It has nothing to do with me. It has to do with another character. You'll have to see." This, as MTV points out, probably means an extra helping of Bill himself. But she also says that this short could be part of a larger re-release, sort of Grindhouse style. "Right now he's putting the two films together with an intermission with an added anime sequence he had already written. So additional stories are in there, in animation."

Anime or not, just get us the damned DVD set, QT. I'm sick of waiting! I need my geysers of blood and Elle Driver.
