Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is currently tweeting photos from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  His latest is a nice photo of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in silhouette.  I’m not exactly why his sword is drawn, but maybe Jack has now becoming enemies with the horizon.  Anything is possible in these movies.

Gemma Ward Boards PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES

It’s a good time to be a supermodel with thespian aspirations in Hollywood.  (Although, was it ever really a bad time?)  Transformers 3 found its female lead in the pages of Victoria’s Secret, while Australian bombshell Gemma Ward has just landed a role in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  The Daily Telegraph reports that Ward has landed a small speaking part as a mermaid in the fourth film of the swashbuckling franchise. Bruckheimer, Busiest producer in Hollywood

Back in September, Walt Disney Pictures threw a huge presentation for all their upcoming movies, which culminated in big announcements about new installments of two of the studio's biggest franchises done in collaboration with Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and a third "National Treasure," as well as their intentions of reinventing The Lone Ranger. (You can read part of our report on that presentation here.)

Since the announcement, there's been a lot of rumors especially about that fourth "Pirates" movie, but earlier today, a group of journalists had some time to sit down with Jerry Bruckheimer on the set of potentially his next big Disney franchise, based on the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, to get some first-hand info about these projects.

As far as getting all of these new projects off the ground, Bruckheimer joked, "That's why I can't spend a lot of time here. We have a lot of things," and mentioned some of the projects he's actively working on. "We're doing another 'National Treasure' so we're working on that, we're preparing 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' right now—it's going to be shot in New York—we have another picture that's in post-production that we're finishing called 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' with Isla Fischer and Hugh Dancy, so that comes out in February."

As far as approaching the sequels for "National Treasure" and "Pirates of the Caribbean," Bruckheimer says that both are having scripts written. "We've sat with the writers and we're working up the story and plotlines right now. They're in the process of finishing 'The Lone Ranger' so they're working on both of those simultaneously, same set of writers, Elliot and Rossio, who did all three 'Pirates' and worked on 'National Treasure (2)'"

When asked whether they might consider gearing another "Pirates" movie to IMAX, based on the success Warner Bros. had with The Dark Knight, Bruckheimer responded, "Absolutely. I'd love to do it, so let's just see if we can work it through the production schedule with everything else."

Zac Efron Boarding the Black Pearl?

The latest rumor hitting the high seas -- MTV UK reports that Zac Efron has signed on to star in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, for the prime sum of 6 million pounds -- a deal that would also glue him to another HSM sequel. But rumor control is already in the works. MTV, stateside, reports that this all came from The National Enquirer, and that there's no truth to the story. They talked to Efron, who says the rumors aren't true, although he'd definitely be interested. Gee, ya think?

Whoever cooked up this rumor at least thought it out -- Zac might not be interested in more HSM, but I bet he'd agree to more for the chance to star in a huge Disney feature that reaches beyond the teen girls and allows him to act alongside Depp. And from the studio's side, Sparrow's last male rival couldn't hold a torch to Johnny, so I wouldn't be surprised if Disney did it again.

Orlando Bloom might have been one heck of a Legolas, but I just hated him in Pirates. His charisma, or lack thereof, was no match for Depp, and to give Johnny another star that can't give him a run for his money ... that would be a shame. This franchise's best bet: focus on Sparrow with a few co-stars who can rival Depp's charisma and chemistry. Any suggestions?

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Rumors

Terry Rossio, co-screenwriter of the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, has debunked the various rumors that are going around about Pirates of the Caribbean 4. They ranged from Johnny Depp getting $56 million for the fourth movie to Tim Burton directing to Sacha Baron Cohen and Russell Brand co-starring. Rossio writes:

For the record, none of the recent Pirates 4 rumors have any truth, including the so-called record 50 million dollar payday for Depp.

Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sacha Cohen? Tim Burton? Studios are way too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing.

The only thing that has been officially announced so far is that Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth film.

Disney, Depp return to 'Caribbean'

For the sake of sanity, we're compiling all of the Johnny Depp stories that have come out of Disney Studios' presentation at the Kodak Theatre earlier today including the previously unreported announcement that Depp would be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Caribbean 4, but first, he'll be reteaming with director Tim Burton to play the Mad Hatter in the motion-capture animated Alice in Wonderland and playing Tonto in The Lone Ranger. Obviously, Disney and Johnny Depp's next few years will be closely linked with these three projects in development.

During Disney's preview today in Hollywood, the studio questioned who could possibly play the titular character in its upcoming feature The Lone Ranger.

With that, Disney rolled out the USC marching band to come down and play the Ranger's theme song. This was followed by an appearance by Depp himself who took to the stage in full Captain Jack Sparrow attire...wearing The Lone Ranger's mask.

'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' for 2011

The fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film is definitely happening, according to a scoopster for Aint it Cool News.

The best news? It ain't gonna be anything like the over-bloated snore-inducing "Dead Man's Chest" or "At World's End". More precisely, it'll "indications suggest the film's story would be far more contained than its predecessors, allowing for a budget-friendly downsizing. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's been unsubstantiated talk that a fourth film would go the other way completely...think in terms of ultra fantastical (dinosaurs, Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, etc.)''

I'm taking bets now - who else thinks Johnny Depp will be a no-show?

In addition, the same scooper says new sequels to "Cars" and "National Treasure" are on the way, as well as a 3D remake of "Tron".

Where are we going with this?

Cant they make new stories? By the way, I cant wait to see 'Rambo 18' (Stallone will rock on this one)
