M. Night's Devil Will Be Released In September

Writer/producer/director trifecta M. Night Shyamalan has been monopolozing the news recently as he's been busy promoting The Last Airbender, defending himself against accusations of racism, and now announcing a new release date for the first film being produced under his Night Chronicles banner. 

Shock Til You Drop spoke with the director yesterday and were told that Devil, directed by brothers John Erick and Drew Dowdle, will be released September 17th rather than February 11th, moving into some pretty stiff competition. The film will be up against the Emma Stone starrer Easy A as well as the Damon/Affleck flicks The Adjustment Bureau and The Town respectively. Not only that, but the following weekend brings Legend of the Guardians and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps into the mix, making for a crowded couple of weeks. The sometimes cocky Shyamalan possibly is looking to get his film out during the fast approaching awards season, but it also could just be that they're wrapping up the movie faster than expected and they'd rather not sit on a finished film for four months.

Devil finds a bunch of strangers stuck in an elevator with someone they start to believe is Jesus, but is actually the devil. The directing team of the Dowdle bros proved with Quarantine that they can make a competent carbon copy of a film, but whether or not the can put something together from scratch has yet to be determined.

With the release date bumped up so far, expect to see an absolute flood of marketing to come out of the Devil camp very soon. We'll keep you posted as soon as we see it coming.
