'Game of Thrones' Season 2 Gets A Trailer

With the premiere of the second season based on A Clash of Kings on the way this spring, HBO offers some tantalizing glimpses of what's to come in this two-minute making-of piece.

So consider this a mild SPOILER WARNING for anyone who absolutely doesn't want any kind of hint of what the second season of Game of Thrones is going to look like

(but it's too late, you've clicked the link so you should watch it already).

The two minute mini-featurette mostly contains the returning characters from the first season in costume--or at least, the ones that made it out of the first season alive--as well as super-brief snippets of some of the new characters that will be making their first appearance in season 2. Featuring running narration by show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, the trailer also shows off some of the new locations for the upcoming season which will be a bit more expansive than the first, not only shooting in Ireland but Iceland and elsewhere to capture the scope of the second book in George R. R. Martin's series.

The trailer comes on the heels of the announcement (broken by The Hollywood Reporter via Martin's blog) that the character Lord of Bones has been cast with newcomer Edward Dogliani taking the role. You can see that Dogliani's IMDB page is pretty empty save for a couple of shorts (not even a photo up yet), but he'll be taking the role of the bone armor-wearing raider with the not-too-friendly nickname of "Rattleshirt."

Martin also posted that he was heading east in December for something big that he was unable to discuss at this time, but that post has since been taken down. More GoT news or perhaps something involving his Wild Cards series? Expect more news on that front come December.

The second season of Game of Thrones will make its premiere on HBO in April.

First Posters for 'The Expendables 2'

Hi peps, its been a long time but I'm back. This time with a poster debut for the all-star action pic The Expendables 2. It showcases all the badasses you can expect to see in the movie Toy Story 3-style (thank God they didn’t go the New Year’s Eve route). It’s not a bad poster, and it’s effective in informing audiences that Chuck Norris will always look like Walker Texas Ranger no matter the hat.

The Expendables 2 will be hitting theaters on August 17th, 2012 next summer, so we already know it's coming up. While Sylvester Stallone will be appearing as Barney Ross in the film again, he will not be directing it, like the first one. The screenplay is being written by David Agosto & Ken Kaufman and Simon West will be in charge of directing. We also expect to see Bruce Willis back in a bigger role, along with the rest of the team: Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Randy Couture. Excited for this sequel?

An early teaser trailer for Gareth Evans' The Raid has been unveiled online via MTV and it's a must watch. The Raid is an Indonesian action film about an elite SWAT police squad that raids a drug lord's building, which it takes place entirely in, and it's awesome.

I knew nothing about this film till yeterday when slash films started calling it "best action movies in years". Sony Pictures acquired the film during the Cannes Film Festival after only seeing a few bits of footage.

Sony has also announced that Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda will be creating an "an entirely new musical score for the ultra-intense action picture's" US release. check it out!

Official Plot Synopsis:

Deep in the heart of Jakarta’s slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world’s most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Music Video Features New Footage

So far all the footage we've seen for this summer's big bad blockbuster sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been spectacular. The teaser trailer was a nice setup for the story, the theatrical trailer was full of plenty of pretty special effects and explosions, and the most recent trailer featured some cool new shots as well. Now Linkin Park has released a promo music video featuring their song Iridescent set over plenty of new footage from Michael Bay's fighting robot extravaganza. Essentially, this is just another trailer with the help of some music from the soundtrack to get everyone more excited. Check out the music video below!

In this movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky must help his robot friends defeat enemies like Shockwave.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is again directed by everyone's favorite explosive director, Michael Bay, of the previous two Transformers movies as well as Bad Boys I and II, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Island. The screenplay was written by Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote the Revenge of the Fallen script but went solo this time, and also worked on The Ring, The Skeleton Key and Brothers Grimm screenplays. Paramount is bringing Transformers 3 to theaters everywhere in 3D on June 29th. Bring on the summer!

A Few of the Best Cinematic Trailers from E3 2011

Still in the spirit of the video game convention E3 that closed yesterday in Los Angeles, I decided to make a good selection of cinematic game trailers that would be the best to feature on a movie blog like this. So to compliment the trailers we featured earlier in the week, here's a few more cinematics from E3 2011 to check out.

Ubisoft has been making a lot of headlines lately when they revealed that they wish to pursue making their own films based on their AAA gaming titles.

I think that the best people to adapt a story from one medium to another are the people who care about it the most. Hiring a director who has no attachment to a gaming series is only going to upset the fan base and will never turn out a product that's true to its roots. That's why I'm excited that Ubisoft is going forward with making a 3D movie based on Assassin's Creed.

At this E3 this year, they showed a brand new trailer for the final part of the main character Ezio's long journey. He's taken on corruption in Italy, even the pope in Rome and now he must find the secrets his ancestor Altair left around the world. This beauty is undoubtedly one of the best game trailers I've ever seen and a true definition of a cinematic trailer.

Assassin's Creed Revelations:

Next, the third entry in the Uncharted series, Drake's Deception, is out this year. This has always been one of those games that is just as enjoyable to watch being played as it is to play. Lush environments and visuals set a standard for big tent-pole action sequences. Some of it would even make Michael Bay go "Woah... that's impressive". The game has a charm that can't be denied. Now once again Drake, his trusted pal Sully, and the two girls fighting over his heart must find some kind of treasure in the middle of no where. Of course it's a race against time, someone else is after it... this is what you come to expect from this genre of adventure game. Another beautiful cinematic.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception:

Over on the EA Games side of the of the gaming mountain you have yet another trilogy coming to a close. Mass Effect 3 hits early next year and is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2012. Check this awesome trailer out as Commander Shepard and crew must fight the reapers, a race of mechanical machines, as they attack Earth.

Mass Effect 3:

It wasn't that long ago that we heard about a Peter Jackson produced Halo film which eventually degraded into District 9, a fresh and fun take on sci-fi and aliens on Planet Earth. Now the Halo franchise will continue the story of Master Chief with an all new trilogy. After an epic continuous shot with new tools and a somewhat new look, MC finds the ship he was floating on through space has taken quite a lot of damage and is heading for something really REALLY Big. Halo has taken a note from a ton of different film styles. There's the obvious James Cameron Aliens influence, as well as Independence Day when it comes to the scope of some of the moments on planets... but here I get a feeling that screams Star Wars! Don't you?

First Image from Season Two of 'The Walking Dead'

Well, it looks a lot like The Walking Dead, season one, but check out those eyes! The second season of The Walking Dead is shooting now in Georgia, and AMC has released the first still from the production. We don’t know if the budget cuts that Frank Darabont feared ended up coming to pass, but there is a short statement from the director/showrunner after the break, along with a larger version of the image.

Mr. Darabont says,

At this moment, I’m standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It’s great to be shooting again. I think we’ve embarked on a great season.

Can’t wait to see what happens when the second season takes off in October.

Pixar's New Animated Short - Enrico Casarosa's 'La Luna'

Disney has officially released the first still image along with a new teaser "poster" for the new Pixar short film titled La Luna. Below you'll see the two first looks from La Luna, directed by Pixar's Head of Story Enrico Casarosa, an Italian artist who started work as a storyboard artist at Blue Sky, before going on to work on Cars and Ratatouille at Pixar, working his way up to now directing his own short. La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances.

Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family's most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions? The short runs roughly 7 minutes and was produced by Kevin Reher. As far as I know, this is not playing with Cars 2 this summer (Toy Story's Hawaiian Vacation is instead) but this is playing at the Annecy International Animation Festival this week.

Over 30 New High Resolution Images from 'Green Lantern' + Trailer

Every time I see new footage I get a bit more excited for this movie. It’s not that it’s the best looking Comic movie of the summer, it’s that the movie actually does seem like a “Green Lantern” movie.

Warner Bros. has released a slew of images and a trailer from their upcoming superhero flick Green Lantern. Some of the images are new, while a few of them we’ve seen before, but they all reflect finished visual-effects. Also included in the batch are a few official set images featuring director Martin Campbell.

A test pilot (Ryan Reynolds) is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping the peace within the universe.

Green Lantern is directed by veteran New Zealand filmmaker Martin Campbell, of Defenseless, GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit, Casino Royale and Edge of Darkness previously. The script was written by Greg Berlanti ("Everwood", "Eli Stone"), Michael Goldenberg (Peter Pan, Order of the Phoenix), Michael Green ("Everwood", "Kings") & comic book writer Marc Guggenheim ("FlashForward") and is based on the DC Comics superhero. Warner Bros is bringing Green Lantern to theaters in 3D everywhere on June 17th!

E3 2011: New Trailers for TOMB RAIDER, SOUL CALIBUR V

E3 doesn’t technically start until Tuesday, but all the developers are trying to get a jump on each other which is funny because that means no one gets a jump on anybody. I assume the plan is to get people excited with a trailer and then at E3 the developer will show some of the game and explain what players can do in it. There will be presentations, there will be demos, and the only thing you’re not likely to see at E3 is Nintendo announcing an IP that isn’t based off a pre-existing property.

Trailers have gone online for a bunch of games, but I’m not going to turn this site into GameTrailers, so here are the trailers for the reboot of Tomb Raider (no gameplay shown, plenty of awful voiceover dialogue but the trailer looks gorgeus) and Soul Calibur V (cheesy story and voice acting, but the games have always been fun).

'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Theatrical Trailer

20th Century Fox has just debuted an exciting and fairly intense new theatrical trailer on Yahoo for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt, starring James Franco as well as Andy Serkis doing motion-capture work as the chimpanzee Caesar. This trailer is most likely playing in theaters in front of Fox's X-Men: First Class this weekend. We have already seen one impressive trailer for this highly anticipated franchise reboot, but this is one that finally gives us an idea of what we can expect and damn, does it look awesome! At least I think so. Check this out!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set in a contemporary San Francisco and follows a young scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes. Franco has been testing his Alzheimer cure on apes, but one of them, named Caesar, starts to evolve rapidly, so he takes him home to live with him and protect him from the cruel doctors, thus starting the inevitable ape revolution. James Franco stars, along with Andy Serkis providing motion capture for Caesar and Weta doing CGI; Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, with Tom Felton. Rise of the Planet of the Apes arrives in theaters on August 5th late summer.

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Featurette on the Skydivers

A badass new featurette has been debuted over on Badass Digest (via SlashFilm) today for Transformers: Dark of the Moon highlighting the skydivers that appear in the movie. We've seen them many times before, as they're in the trailers and have been mentioned by Michael Bay time and time again, the wingsuit guys who jump out of that helicopter. The video focuses on J.T. Holmes, one of the "precision skydivers" who worked on the film. It's awesome seeing these guys just jump off, and jump out, of pretty much anything. It's finally just a few more weeks left until we get to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon!

First Trailer for Jackie Chan Epic 1911

Jackie Chan’s next film, the historical epic 1911, is billed as his 100th feature. This appears to be mostly marketing math to capitalize on the centennial of the subject matter, “the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen (Winston Chao) overthrew the Qing Dynasty.” The first trailer is online, and looks suitably heroic.

Chan co-directed the movie with cinematographer Zhang Li (Red Cliff). 1911 is set for a day-and-date release in the United States and China on October 11. Watch the trailer after the break.

As Bleeding Cool noted when writing about the trailer, Chan is credited as “general director” while Zhang receives the more traditional “director” credit. Since this is a war movie, I assume Chan was focused on advising the actors playing generals — Zhang took care of the rest.

Jokes aside, Chan has always been very involved with the below-the-line side of his movies when it comes to the stunts. Below is a clip of Chan choreographing a 1911 fight — it’s always a treat to watch the innovator at work.

Voldemort Poster for HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2

We’ve seen Harry, Hermoine, Ron, and Neville posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Now it’s time for He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named/Tom Riddle/Voldemort. This is a good opportunity for me to mention that I think the franchise missed an opportunity to give Voldemort the red snake eyes that he has in the book. Perhaps they felt Ralph Fiennes couldn’t be expressive enough without human eyes, perhaps it was too expensive, or maybe it just looked goofy when put on screen. But I’ve always been curious to the what-if. But he’s still missing his nose so that’s good enough, I suppose.

2 new Transformers TV spots

As we are getting closer to the release of Michael Bay’s final Transformers flick we’re starting to see advertisements popping up and interrupting your favorite television program. Here are a couple that you may notice interrupting your show next

Not bad! I have my hopes set pretty high for this movie as the clips released thus far have not been short on action or emotional phrases intended to send chills down my spine. Amazingly they haven’t had the problem of releasing too much or too little and have whet my appetite just enough to send my radar into high gear without producing long term damage.

After yesterday’s posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, I wagered that the next poster in the series would feature Voldemort. I lost my bet! The new poster features unlikely hero Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis). Neville is the Harry Potter of the background. Harry was heroic from day one, but Neville slowly grew into a hero and eventually became the leader of Dumbledore’s Army.

Very Cheesy First Trailer for David R. Ellis' 'Shark Night 3D'

The first trailer for Shark Night 3D has gone online. It looks just as cheesy as you’d expect and it looks ultra-faithful to horror movie tropes in that the black guy clearly dies first. Now the issue with a movie about sharks attacking hapless teens at a lake house is that the obvious solution is to simply not go back in the water after the first shark attack. But it looks like the teens are being forced back in the lake (that’s right, someone transplanted sharks into a lake) as a Hostel-like torture game. And now that we’ve sent torture porn underwater, hopefully we can shoot it into space.

New R-Rated 'Riddick' Movie Greenlit Only if Vin Diesel Takes Pay Cut

Diesel has spoken in the past about a possible sequel, which may be coming sooner than expected. Diesel has spoken with writer/director David Twohy about Riddick, and it could film as early as this summer with an R rating and everything. One caveat:

“[Twohy] just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch… in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront.”

The following synopsis for Riddick was released about a year ago along with a few pieces of concept art, though the project may have evolved since then:

I'm just glad to finally see this project making progress and amazed to see Universal giving the greenlight (tentatively) on an edgy, R-rated sci-fi project. But then again, Vin Diesel and Fast Five have earned them an impressive $187 million at the box office so far. He's probably earned a good amount money anyway and Universal is happy with the success he can bring, so why not try it again with a sci-fi franchise? Bring it on, I've been waiting for more Riddick! Here's a great quote to end on: "We all have the dark Riddick inside us. You have a penchant for showing us our true selves." We'll definitely keep you updated on this new sequel.

Video Game Movies by the Numbers' Infographic

We all know that video game movies are still cursed in Hollywood, bound to never be good, so while we wait the years it'll take to finally make a good one, IGN have created a new infographic: Video Game Movies by the Numbers. The chart visualizes, in typical cartoony style, various statistics including the highest grossing video game movie as well as best/worst reviewed video game movies, ranked by budget, ranked by opening weekend and so on. You can see the infographic below. This is interesting, but only confirms that most of these suck, no matter the cost.

I always find it weird exploring this genre, as it feels like there should be/have been more adaptations, but none really stick out, and everything is bad anyway (even Super Mario Bros!). I'm not sure why IGN even says: "To help convince your ladyfriend that VG movies are worth the time, especially if she wants to be your girl for the long haul" because there's nothing that impressive on this chart. Maybe it's just IGN being partial to gaming. Hopefully one day movies like Gears of War, BioShock, Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect actually turn out incredible. We can only hope there is a brighter future for video game movies. Thoughts?

Posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2

Over the last couple days Warner Bros. has released a new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 posters, I’ve seen a poster for Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermoine (Emma Watson), and today we’re getting Ron (Rupert Grint).While some posters are light and cheerful, these posters show dirty and disheveled carachters.

It seems, Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will follow the advertising pattern of the previous Harry Potter films and give a banner to every single freaking character.

By my estimation, there are about 25 notable characters in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. If each one is getting their own poster, we’re currently on poster 3 of 25.

New 'Shark Night 3D' Poster

Terror Runs Deep. That's the tagline for this monstrosity of a shark poster for the upcoming shark thriller Shark Night 3D as debuted yesterday on IGN. So, does anyone know what this is actually about, what the plot is supposed to be? Or does anyone care? Honestly, I'm just excited to see some shark mayhem of apparently epic proportions, which is what this is promising! Directed by David R. Ellis (Cellular, Snakes on a Plane, The Final Destination), Shark Night 3D stars Sara Paxton, Chris Carmack, Joel Moore and Chris Zylka. We're still waiting for the trailer, but awesome/scary promo material like this should keep us curious.

The screenplay for Shark Night 3D was written by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes and is supposedly a "scary 3D ride." Ellis shot Shark Night 3D with actual 3D cameras just like he did on The Final Destination with a cast that includes Joel David Moore (Avatar), Chris Carmack (Into the Blue 2: The Reef), Sinqua Walls ("Friday Night Lights") and Alyssa Diaz ("As the World Turns"). Relativity Media currently has Shark Night 3D scheduled for 3D release coming up on September 2nd this fall. Stay tuned for a trailer!

New Poster and Release Date for 'Colombiana'

A new poster has gone online for Oliver Megaton’s Colombiana. The film stars Zoe Saldana as an assassin who hunts down the men who killed her parents. The movie has also moved up from September 2nd and into the final week of the summer. Colombiana will now open on August 26th against the found-footage sci-fi horror flick Apollo 18 and the Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Hit the jump to check out the poster.

Written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen (who also wrote Taken and Transporter 3), Colombiana is set in Latin America and follows a young woman who, after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. Cat (Saldana) works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death. From this poster alone, it looks like it'll be awesome, and we'll let you know when we've got more. Sony Pictures has now Colombiana scheduled for release August 26th this fall.

The Amazing Spider-Man' Logo + Teaser Poster

Thanks to ShockYa (via Latino Review), an early teaser poster and logo set for Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man, the reboot being directed by Marc Webb, have been found. Normally a logo isn't that exciting, but I thought this was worth featuring because if you look closely at the poster, you'll notice some scales (hinting at the villain The Lizard) as well as a faint red and blue color, and maybe a face, which is actually pretty cool. New 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Trailer

When the last trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon hit, I have to admit that I was pretty much blown away. All the action looks impressive as hell, and I think this has the potential to be the best of the series (I actually wish this whole cover-up for the space race was part of the first film). Now we have another brand new trailer for the summer blockbuster sequel, and I'm even more pumped to see this in theaters. There's plenty of great shots of Chicago getting decimated, and a final shot of Optimus Prime that's just fantastic.

First Look at Andrew Garfield in Costume as New Spider-Man!

It's here! After much arguing, debating, and waiting, we finally have our very first official look at Andrew Garfield in costume as Spider-Man in the new reboot of the superhero franchise being directed by 500 Days of Summer's Marc Webb. The photo was officially unveiled by Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures testerday via Deadline (Thanks to MMDB reader Helder Chamba for the heads up ), meaning this starts their massive two-year marketing process, as the new Spider-Man won't arrive in theaters until July 3rd, 2012. But with that said, it's an exciting and intriguing first reveal, and one that I'm sure a lot of you guys might actually like. But what is he wearing?! View the photo below!

The texture of his outfit definitely does look unique and I'm amazed/surprised to see them come up with some that doesn't look too much like Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man costume, which I actually hate quite a bit. Kung Fu Panda 2's Epic Banner of Awesomeness + Posters

It really is going to be a year of awesomeness! (If you can't tell, I'm being hyperbolic for most of this post.) I was browsing IMPAwards today and noticed this awesome new banner for DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda 2. Now that Shrek Forever After and Megamind are out of the way, this is their focus for 2011, hence the TV spots airing five months early proclaiming it to be the "Year of Awesomeness!" I just love how beautiful wide this banner is and how totally freakin' cool it looks having all six of the uh, Furious Five, flying down from above ready to kick some ass. It just looks awesome!

Po & the Furious Five head to China to battle a villain and uncover the secrets of Po's mysterious origins.

Kung Fu Panda 2, officially known as Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, is directed by Jennifer Yuh, a former storyboard artist and the head of story on Kung Fu Panda, whose only past directing experience was on the Spawn animated TV series. The script for this sequel was written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (both of MADtv, King of the Hill, Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs Aliens).

Paramount is bringing DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda 2 to theaters everywhere in 3D starting May 26th, 2011 next summer. Who's in already?

New Ice Age 4 Teaser Short 'Scrat's Continental Crack-Up'

Damn, can you believe it, we're already to the fourth Ice Age? I haven't been keeping up with the series even though I love the first one, but yes indeed, hitting theaters in summer 2012 is Ice Age: Continental Drift, with those same pack of prehistoric creatures back again. As always, Fox loves to tease each one with one of their animated shorts starring the squirrel Scrat. Fox just released a brand new one on Apple titled Scrat's Continental Crack-Up that you gotta see. I know Peter from /Film calls these the Looney Tunes of today and they're very fun, even on the fourth go around... or is it the sixth? How many times have we seen Scrat?

Though we're now a few days into 2011, that doesn't mean we can't continue to looking back at 2010. That includes featuring more Best of lists, like this one - filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's Favorite Movies of 2010. He starts naming 11... then continues on to feature 20 total, so that's what I've posted below, courtesy of the The Tarantino Archives. It's a good, fun list that will definitely spark some debate, especially because Toy Story 3 is #1 and that's followed by odd choices like Tangled (which I also loved), Cyrus, Knight & Day (what the heck?!?), Get Him To The Greek, Robin Hood and many more. Nearly every movie included in the ten biggest earners of 2010 is either a sequel in an established franchise or an adaptation of a book or series of books, and one remake. It's no surprise that a Pixar film, especially the heart-breaking end to the story that started the animation studio's success all the way back in '95, is the biggest success of the year. But box office is just another conquest for Pixar as they have their sights set on winning the Oscar for Best Picture. The presence of other sequels in Iron Man 2, Shrek Forever After, Twilight: Eclipse and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is to be expected, and it's not surprising that most of the list is composed of films that are intended to be viewed by the whole family (and with How to Train Your Dragon, I couldn't be happier with its success).

The two glaring exceptions in this year's box office hits are Universal's surprise animated hit Despicable Me and the mind-bending original dreamweaver Inception. Leave it to Christopher Nolan, a director who became a household name after helming two movies in one of the most successful blockbuster franchises currently running, to deliver an original film that rakes in a shitload of money without the inflated cost of a 3D ticket - impressive. Of course, when these two original movies are surrounded by all these sequels and adaptations, it's hard to make the case for more original stories. Hollywood will remake nearly any movie, no matter how classic or beloved, but if the money flow ain't broke, you know they won't even try to fix it.

But for me the most interesting note on box office comes from the site Screened, who has included James Cameron's Avatar, a film initially released on December 18th, 2009, as an honorable mention on their biggest box officer earners chart. Why? Well apparently the film made $466 million of its $760 million box office take in 2010, which trumps Toy Story 3's 2010 box office take of $415 million with plenty of room to spare. That's pretty impressive for a 3D remake of Pocahontas, eh? Sorry about that, but I had to throw it in, its been a year! So what's your take on the highest grossing films of 2010?

Happy New Year! Yet another year has come and gone but it only means bigger and better things are yet to come. As I look back on 2010, I'm already amazed at how far we've come in such a short amount of time and I can't go without thanking all you, my readers, for helping me get to this point. It's still unbelievable that MyMovies Database is barely over 3 years old but that means with every year new we continue to grow immensely. We're still just beginning and I've already got some exciting things planned for 2011.

Summit Entertainment has released a UK movie trailer for Source Code, the sophomore feature from Moon director Duncan Jones on Heyuguys. The trailer begins much like the previously released domestic release, but varies a bit along the way and features a bunch of different footage along the way.

The script had high praise in industry circles and has a clever premise, basically a mystery thriller set in a ten minute span of time Groundhog Day-style. Jake Gyllenhall plays a soldier who is part of an experimental program to ferret out the origin of a terrorist attack on a train. His psyche is projected into the body of a passenger on the train, and he relives the attack multiple times as he tries to trace it back to the point of origin. Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright are in the cast as well. The Source Code script has had some revisions done by Billy Ray but was originally written by Ben Ripley

A sci-fi story centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of a person who witnesses a train explosion.

Source Code is directed by British filmmakers, Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie whose feature debut was the brilliant sci-fi film Moon. The screenplay was written by TV writer Ben Ripley, making his feature debut, and was featured on the Black List a few years ago. Vendome Pictures and Mark Gordon produced. Summit Entertainment is bringing Source Code to theaters everywhere starting April 15th next year. The trailer only says Coming Soon but that's the date for now. Does that look great?

Fantastic New 'Rango' Featurette with Johnny Depp

Paramount has released a new behind the scenes featurette called “natural acting experience” from Gore Verbinski’s Rango. Unlike most animated movies which feature the actors delivering their dialogue alone, Verbinski had the entire cast acting out the scenes like a play, which I’m sure led to a lot of discovery with the script and many improvised moments. I wonder if the Blu-ray release will feature a split screen so you can see the animated scenes next to the actors recording the dialogue. Trust me, the way they captured Rango is as radical a process for animation as I have ever seen. You definitely want to check out this feturette.

Rango is being directed by filmmaker Gore Verbinski, of The Mexican, The Ring, The Weather Man, and all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The script was written by John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd) based on a story by Verbinski and James Ward Byrkit. ILM is animating using "cutting edge techniques" that "allow [them] to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny's performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen." Inception Featurette aiming for The Oscars

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight was shut out of the 2008 Oscar race for Best Picture, but with ten slots available for the 2010 nominees, it’s looking likely that his critically-acclaimed box office smash Inception will be getting a nomination. However, since there are still only five slots for Best Director, there are really only five nominees for Best Picture and then five honorable mentions. Warner Bros. wants to get Inception on the short list and so they’ve released a “new” behind-the-scenes featurette for the film. It’s mostly EPK (electronic press kit) footage, but the beginning and end of the featurette are new. This isn’t so much to encourage people to see the movie (chances are you already have), but to remind Awards voters that Nolan made a remarkable picture. While all the momentum seems to currently be behind The Social Network, it’s still early enough for other contenders to garner favor.

'Toy Story 3' Oscar Campaign Ads!

Despite the efforts of literally only a few of reviewers, Toy Story 3 has become the most universally praised film of the year. With a 99% rating at Rotten Tomatoes, it seems like you'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't love the heartfelt goodbye to Andy's Toys. While Toy Story 3 is almost a surefire winner for Best Animated Film at the Academy Awards, Pixar is shooting for the moon this time. Several Oscar campaign ads have surfaced showing that Pixar wants the sequel follow in the footsteps of Beauty and the Beast and Up to become another animated film nominated for Best Picture. But this time they actually want to win!

A couple of these images have been around for awhile, but Awards Daily recently stumbled upon the "Not since Titanic…" ad, so the time seemed ripe to round them all up for a post before the holidays. Likely some of you will be enjoying Toy Story 3 with some family members over the holiday break, but Pixar is hoping members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hold the film in even higher esteem when Oscar nominations come around. I think it's a pretty safe bet that Toy Story 3 will get a Best Picture nomination, but winning the award over films like Inception and The Social Network is going to be the real challenge. Though we've already seen a teaser trailer giving us our first look at the CG animated versions of the classic blue cartoons in Sony Pictures Animation's adaptation of The Smurfs in 3D, now two more images give us a glimpse of the characters as they invade NYC. While the first image only featured one recognizable Smurf (Papa Smurf voiced by Jonathan Winters), this new one sees the elder Smurf joined by Smurfette (Katy Perry), Grouchy Smurf (George Lopez), Gutsy Smurf (Alan Cumming), Brainy Smurf (Fred Armisen) and Clumsy Smurf (Anton Yelchin). In addition, there's also a brand new teaser poster you can see below!

When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours – in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. The Smurfs is directed by veteran family filmmaker Raja Gosnell, of Home Alone 3, Never Been Kissed, Scooby-Doo 1 & 2, Yours, Mine and Ours, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The screenplay was co-written by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss (of The Rugrats Movie, Jimmy Neutron, Clockstoppers, Shrek 2, Are We There Yet?, Daddy Day Camp) and is based on the tiny little characters created by Belgian artist Peyo. Sony brings The Smurfs to theaters in 3D August 3rd, 2011.

Daft Punk Talks About Their Experience With TRON: LEGACY

Shrouded in mystery, the helmeted French techno-pop duo known as Daft Punk have been creating some serious buzz in the scene of electronic dance music since the early 90’s. They’ve won Grammy Awards, created fusions of techno and rock, helped evolve the raving subculture, and maintained a serious dedication to helmet hair whenever in the public eye (…not sure if they shower with them too, but I would never doubt it). And now with the release of Tron: Legacy and their subsequent film-scoring debut, they are truly at the top of their game.

Their score for the futuristic sci-fi film, combine a full orchestra with their already rich sounds, and if you’ve already heard pieces like “Derezzed” or any other part of the soundtrack, you know it delivers a thick, colorful sound that will make you want to tap your feet in the theatre (as long as you can remove them from the goo that covers the floor). In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the pair discuss how they came on board to score the movie and their opinions on the film’s themes, their view on technology today, how the soundtrack was influenced by Lawrence of Arabia, and their plans for the future.

When asked how they got involved in the film:

Bangalter: “I think we were really approached by [director] Joe Kosinski in the early process of the early research and development of the film. It wasn’t greenlit yet, and there wasn’t really a script per se. We were on tour at that time, and it took almost a year to decide whether we had the desire and the energy to dive into something like that.”

What gave them confidence to say “yes”:

Bangalter: “You never know whether something will be good, but the interesting thing for us was that Joe was concurrently working on this film with Steven Lisberger, the director from the first one, for which we have great admiration and respect as a human being and the legacy of that film. Having Jeff Bridges on board helped too.”

What attracted them to the film:

Bangalter: “We were interested in the relationship between society and technology, and how the place of technology in the world had changed so much. The first movie in 1982 was a very colorful, hopeful, naive look at technology, and the power of the computer. Thirty years later, this new movie would be a dark and not-innocent look at technology. It was in common with how we feel about technology, which is this love-hate relationship with it. It can be wonderful and terrifying.”

What kind of approach they took:

Bangalter: “I think Tron is a good example of minimalism. That’s what we liked with the direction of the new film. It can be huge film, but there’s a lot of negative space, so there’s this certain minimalist approach, that “less is more” feel, that we appreciate artistically.”

How they visualized the score:

Bangalter: “…when we started to look at that concept art, we actually started putting music together before we had the script. We thought of the digital world as being like a desert. Jeff Bridges’ character almost looks like the Ten Commandments. We liked this idea of taking classic Hollywood scores and try to clash it against electronics and 1970s science fiction soundtracks with a much darker feel…”

Their thoughts on their costumes:

Bangalter: “We really feel like The Wizard of Oz sometimes; we’re the guys behind the curtains pushing some buttons. We like this idea of stimulating the imagination and blurring the lines between fiction and reality.”

Their plans for the future:

Bangalter: “We never say never. We want to do more Daft Punk music. We’ve learned a great deal of things from this. We like the idea of having this addition to our palette. It definitely opened up some new possibilities of adding traditional instruments with electronic ones. We are trying to find every artform to express ourselves…We just finished this thing [Tron soundtrack], which was a challenge, and we’re now working on things to come.”

De Homem-Christo: “We like to keep things as a surprise. It’s always better like that.”

With Tron: Legacy’s release, the film has received many reviews, and most of them have lacked a certain…positive feedback. RottenTomatoes shows mixed results, as the movie holds a feeble 49% even though 77% of the audience enjoyed it. Nonetheless, there has been a unanimously positive response to the music that overlays the film with excitingly vibrant sounds and rhythms. I do not know if I will be seeing Tron any time soon, but I’ll make sure I'll keep listening the soundtrack.

Isn't it a little late for something like a teaser poster? ComingSoon has revealed the first official poster for Jonathan Liebesman's exciting new alien invasion movie Battle: Los Angeles starring Aaron Eckhart and a young platoon of Marines. We've seen the badass trailers for this and know what to expect (Black Hawk Down with aliens) but this poster seems like something we should've seen six months ago before any trailers or anything. Now it just seems kind of boring when we already know the action this has in it. Cool imagery, but come on, this is it? I hope we see more cool posters for Battle: Los Angeles soon. Check it out!

Battle: Los Angeles is directed by South African-born director Jonathan Liebesman, of Darkness Falls, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and The Killing Room previously, but he is really breaking out in a good way with this. The screenplay credit, according to IMDb, goes solely to Christopher Bertolini, of only The General's Daughter and Madso's War previously. Sony / Columbia Pictures will be bringing Battle: Los Angeles to theaters everywhere starting on March 11th next year! Who is looking forward to seeing this?

Filmography 2010: Amazing Mash-Up of 270 of This Year’s Movies

Editor “Gen I.” has mixed together a beautiful compilation of 270 of this year’s movies. The six-minute mash-up runs all genre, all tones, and it’s just a really well-cut together piece. It’s not saying “These were the best films,” but it brings them all together to make 2010 look like a better year in cinema than it actually was. That takes some skill.

First Look at Simon Pegg in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL

We’ve got some pictures of Pegg, Tom Cruise, and Paula Patton on the set of the next Mission: Impossible film to tide you over. Directed by the superb Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, Ratatoullie), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is the fourth entry in the popular franchise that’s been spearheaded by Cruise since the first film back in 1996. Bird has assembled a highly impressive cast that includes Cruise, Pegg, Patton, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway (Lost), Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire), Léa Seydoux (Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood), and Vladimir Mashkov (The Thief). If that wasn’t enough, Michael Giacchino is also doing the score.

Personally, I’m really excited about this flick. The choice of Brad Bird as the director (in his first live-action feature, no less) has me over the moon, and the cast he’s put together is fantastic. There’s still no word on the plot of the film, but it’s been said that the film is a reboot of sorts and that Jeremy Renner is being set up to carry future installments of the franchise alone. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will hit theaters on December 16, 2011.

I must say I’m a huge fan of all things Spielberg. Unfortunately, the most recent projects we can link him to are Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Hereafter and The Lovely Bones. (Okay, he produced the terrific HBO mini-series The Pacific as well, but cinematically speaking the man’s track record of late has been quite average.) And yet, here we are on the brink of a possible (maybe even monumental) comeback, what with True Grit (which he produced) lingering around the corner; not to mention upcoming a slew of promising new films Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, J.J. Abram’s Super 8, Real Steel and Cowboys and Aliens on the horizon. Add in next Christmas’ The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, War Horse plus his planned adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s Robopocalyspe and you have yourself an impending return-to-form for The Beard, whose last great film came way back in 2002’s Catch Me If You Can (if you ask me). War Horse in particular looks likely to place him back in the Oscar race.

Yeehaw! Paramount has debuted the second full theatrical trailer on Yahoo for Gore Verbinski's Rango, the upcoming animated comedy starring Johnny Depp as a chameleon named Rango. As fantastic as that first teaser looked earlier in the summer, this one is so much better and shows us so much more of the story this time around. More actors providing voices in this include: Bill Nighy, Timothy Olyphant, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina and Ray Winstone. This really looks wonderful, the animation, the story, the Fear & Loathing-ness of Depp's character, it all looks great, I truly can't wait to see it. Check out the trailer below!

First 'Fast Five' Trailer with Vin Diesel & Dwayne Johnson

Universal has debuted the first trailer for Justin Lin's Fast Five, the fifth movie in their insanely successful Fast and the Furious franchise of high speed, high octane, highly mediocre movies. Vin Diesel premiered the trailer on his own Facebook and it's packed with plenty of TNA, lots of explosions, and more suped up cars than you can throw a stick at, as expected. As we also know, this stars Dwayne Johnson as well as Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris. I'm not really into this franchise at all, but that's just me. Since Brian (Walker) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) broke Dominic (Diesel) out of custody, find themselves backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro and must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. A new featurette of the upcoming Zack Snyder action flick Sucker Punch has been released and it gives us a deeper look into the next installment of the Zack Snyder series – movies-with-mind-blowing-ass-kicking. It’s basically a collection of a bunch of previously released scenes but also compiles a few comments by the actors including Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, and Oscar Isaac. The film also stars Scott Glenn.

The Mouse House has unveiled the first teaser trailer on Yahoo for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth new movie in their incredibly popular pirating adventure series, this time directed by Rob Marshall. As expected, Johnny Depp is back as Jack Sparrow and he's joined by Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham, Judi Dench and Gemma Ward. This actually looks surprisingly quite fun, I will say that I'm looking forward to it, but it's not too high on my list next summer. Watch and enjoy!

The screenplay was once again written by franchise regulars Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio, based on Tim Power's book On Stranger Tides. Disney is bringing Pirates of the Caribbean 4 to theaters in 3D starting on May 20th next summer.

Last night was the Video Game Awards and with the ceremony came the debut of trailers for some of the hottest upcoming video games. Among the new trailers, I was most excited to see a new sneak peek at Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to the incredible Batman: Arkham Asylum. The trailer didn’t really show any new gameplay, but it did introduce us to one of the game’s main villains, Dr. Hugo Strange (who might also be a villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises). There were also cool trailers for Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Resistance 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Portal 2, Prototype 2, SSX: Deadly Decents, Forza Motorsport 4, Mortal Kombat, and Thor: God of Thunder.

There was also a teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming horror game, Insane, which unfortunately isn’t due out until 2013.

Paramount has finally debuted the first official teaser trailer for Marvel's Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh, starring Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. The trailer comes from Yahoo and is a must watch, even if you're not that familiar with this superhero. I think this looks awesome, despite the costumes; it looks like it'll be epic and exciting. The cast also includes: Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo and Tom Hiddleston as the mysterious Loki.

Pixar’s Cars 2 Early Review

I love Pixar. But the one film in the entire Pixar catalog that I don’t love (not to say that I don’t like it, it’s just a few steps below the rest) is Cars. To me, it almost feels like one of the movies Dreamworks Animation had produced at that point of time. And if it weren’t for the heart of the storyline, I probably would’ve enjoyed it a lot less.

The film wasn’t considered a huge box office success, grossing $461,981,604 worldwide — less than Pixar films of previous years like Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo (which in comparison made $867.8 million worldwide). But the merchandising for the film has brought in billions in sales, which is why Disney green lit a sequel and began construction on a huge CarsLand expansion of the Disney California Adventure theme park.

But now someone claims to have screened an early cut of the film, and has posted a review online. What did they think? Find out after the jump.

I must first give you a disclaimer: the film is obviously not finished, and in computer animation, that can mean a lot. The audience was told that the movie was “steeped in post-production” with “about 70% of the movie was incomplete.” This means that while there were a few completely animated scenes, “the majority of the animation consisted of animated storyboards, flat animation and completed scenes with incomplete dialogue.” Pixar has seven months before the movie will hit theaters, and while that is a considerable amount of time, it doesn’t allow for major revisions in a computer animated film (in WALL-E they rushed to almost completely reanimate the entire sequence in the trash compactor, and made a few other tweeks). But you can usually get a good sense of where the story is and isn’t working.

Here are some excerpts from the review on CC2K:

“The movie is about on par with the original 2006 film Cars, which I must admit is probably my least favorite PIXAR film, but loses itself by shying away from the small-town nostalgia that made the original great.” … “In terms of what I enjoyed, much like the original Cars, the side characters are a delight. In this case there needed to be a lot more of Finn and Holley, the two British spies.” … Another high point is the jokes, something that is actually an upgrade from the original. The original film didn’t really seem like a comedy; here the movie is all about making people laugh. The script is surprisingly adult and it’ll be interesting to see how many of the jokes will stay in … The sets are also beautiful in this, even for flat drawings! The movie goes to several different places throughout including Japan, Italy and Rome and all are animated to perfection. The Japanese section had the most completed animation and the attention to detail is PIXAR quality (i.e. spectacular). It’ll be wonderful to see again once the movie is complete to see how Italy looks.”

“As much as I wanted to like the movie though I found myself tuning out quite a bit. The problem is our star. If you don’t enjoy Larry the Cable Guy or you didn’t like Mater in the original Cars you’ll be bored every time he’s on screen, which is the whole movie! The other characters save the film but Mater’s bumbling idiot wasn’t funny in the original and here he’s playing the typical dumb American mistaken for a secret agent that’s been done better.” … “There’s no focus on McQueen, despite it being his race that gets Mater into the film’s plot, and everyone else including Sally are relegated to making cameo appearances. The bigger plot and bigger locations keep the cast out of Radiator Springs for 95% of the movie and there’s no nostalgia or charm in the cold world of Europe. Cars 2 plays like an animated Austin Powers or any other sequel that gets a bigger budget and thinks everything should be “more!” Cars 2 is good, but it never feels PIXAR good. At times the movie plays like a sequel made to capitalize on the merchandise sales and goodwill of the original. The side characters are highly entertaining but this should be retitled “Mater” as there’s no connection to the original characters.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has just announced that 15 films have been selected as semifinalists for Achievement in Visual Effects for the 83rd Academy Awards. Of the fifteen, five will be selected for final Oscar consideration and the winner will be announced live on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. The films are listed below in alphabetical order:

First Dark, Shadowy Teaser Poster for Marvel's Thor is Revealed

With the trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor set to go online tomorrow, what better time than now to get a look at the poster? The film, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, and Natalie Portman, will be released in 3D on May 6, 2011. Marvel Studios will follow that up with Captain America: The First Avenger on July 22^nd, 2011 and The Avengers on May 4, 2012.

Paramount has released the first teaser trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon and it’s extremely well cut and a great teaser. While many studios love to reveal too much in their trailers and sometimes even in their teaser trailers, this is a perfect example of how to sell your movie without giving it all away. Also, I love the way it works in a huge moment from the late 60’s and makes it connect with the universe of Transformers. I don’t want to spoil it…

Second Full Theatrical Trailer for Blue Sky's Animated 'Rio'

A new trailer has gone online for the animated film Rio. Like this year’s animated family film Alpha and Omega, Rio centers on a pair of animals who are trying to fuck. OK, that might be a bit of an over-simplification. They’re a pair of rare macaws (voiced by Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg) who are brought together to mate but are then kidnapped so they can be sold on the bird black market. Judging by the trailer, it could be amusing.

Dark 'Cowboys & Aliens' Teaser Poster arrives

Empire has unveiled another dark, shadowy teaser poster for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens featuring Daniel Craig once again. This compliments the first teaser poster (which Favreau recently complained was too similar to the I Am Number Four poster, and I agree totally with him) as well as the badass teaser trailer.

Craig plays Jake Lonergan, a stranger with no memory of his past who stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. But the town is soon invaded by aliens and Jake must pull together a posse comprised of former opponents to combat these extraterrestrials. In addition to Daniel Craig, Cowboys & Aliens also stars Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Noah Ringer, Clancy Brown and the legendary Harrison Ford as Col. Dolarhyde. Jon Favreau is directing this adaptation from a screenplay co-written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci & Damon Lindelof. Universal is bringing Cowboys & Aliens in only 2D to theaters on July 29th, 2011 next summer.

First Promo Poster for 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Surfaces

The first trailer for next summer's blockbuster sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon is supposed to hit sometime today, but a new promo poster, maybe even an official teaser poster, has surfaced already. JoBlo got ahold of the image. It's a simple, and not entirely unexpected image of Optimus Prime standing triumphantly with the signature orange embers flying about, likely from one of Michael Bay's trademark explosions. It's not amazing, but this will surely have people getting excited and bitching at the same time.

Though the plot is still under wraps (with the exception of some spoiler-filled tidbits that have surfaced online), Transformers: Dark of the Moon will employ all new giant robots fighting for supremacy and survival. Franchise stars like Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel and John Tuturro are all returning for the sequel and will be joined by new cast members like Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Ken Jeong and a fancy new Ferrari autobot. Stay tuned for the first official look at this anticipated sequel with the debut of the first trailer sometime today. Thoughts?

DreamWorks has released the first full trailer for director D.J. Caruso’s I Am Number Four and you can check it out after the jump.

The film stars Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, and Callan McAuliffe and the plot centers on nine aliens who escaped the destruction of their planet and landed on Earth, but are now on the run from those who destroyed their home world. Alex Pettyfer plays number four and he’s the next one being targeted for death. This full trailer does a really good job explaining the story and introducing us to the characters and their special powers. If I Am Number Four wasn’t on your radar, this trailer might change that.

The only thing to know is…it’s just for the MP3’s. But if you don’t mind just having digital copies, it’s a hell of a deal. No idea when this sale will end so I wouldn’t wait too long…

Tomb Raider Origins Game Announced

In what might be a perfect fit for a movie adaptation, Square Enix today announced Tomb Raider, the new game from Redwood City-based studio Crystal Dynamics.

The game is described as follows:

'After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was traveling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive'

Here begins the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.

"Forget everything you knew about 'Tomb Raider,' we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game," said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics. "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."

I'm a Huge fan of Tomb Raider since the first come out. It has been one of the games that made me the person I Am today. I love how Core Design and Eidos handled business. Now the folks at Square Enix don't seem to care. They don't seem to understand the concept of this game or any other. So I really hope they don't mess up with my feelings with this one.
